Kaya joined OLIVE LEAF Foundation in January 2010 as Area Manager for the Port Elizabeth area. His responsibiliies include the general management of OLIVE LEAF Foundation operations and programmes in the metro and surrounding areas.

Before joining OLIVE LEAF Foundation Kaya worked for the South African Social Security Agency as an Assistant Manager for Grants Administration in the Nelson Mandela Metro District. His duties at SASSA were to oversee and monitor all operations in the district. During his time at SASSA  Kaya and his team managed to turn around the district to be one of the leading districts in the province, they managed to reduce social grant application turnaround time to an average of 2 days. This assited in the reduction of resources spent on litigations against the agency from the NMM district. Kaya also mentored several staff members in developing their careers.

In 2002 Kaya successfully completed a certificate in Social Security at the Rand Afrikaans University. He continued with his studies at the same institution in 2003 towards a Diploma in Social Security and Labour Law. In 2007 Kaya obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Security with the University of Johannesburg. 

Kaya has three beautiful children , Lihle and two boys Hlumelo and Owethu.
