Khayelitsha easter holiday programme

During the recent Easter Holidays, the Cape Town OVC Team worked tirelessly to organise a holiday programme for children aged between twelve and eighteen years. The OLF staff were concerned that many children would be left with nothing to do over the school break and hence, be at risk of engaging in negative behaviour. With that in mind, the team hosted five day long holiday clubs in three halls around Khayelitsha. They played games with the children, engaged in a number of sporting activities, gave the kids a light meal and provided the children with HIV Prevention Education Messages. In total, over four hundred children attended the clubs and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. As well as having a fun time, the children really gained valuable knowledge about HIV/ Aids, how to make wise decisions in life and how to protect themselves.

The team must be congratulated for the way they were prepared to work over their precious public holidays, the amount of effort that they put into organising such a big event and for ensuring that the holiday programme was such a success. These types of events serve to highlight the wonderful hearts of the staff that we have working here at OLF. A special thank you must be said to Sibusiso Gumede, Cynthia Nkani, Thandazwa Molo, Zanoxolo Mthethi, Thanduxolo Nyathela, Patrick Mguli, Nolubabalo Matsalo, Lukhanyo Mavikela and Mhlangabezi Masizana for their hard work behind the scenes in preparation for the event.
